day 96

Today's devotion is a summary of a sermon I heard in church today. It's about kissing. People always think of romance when they hear the word 'kiss', but there are four other types of kisses that were brought up this morning.
#1 Genesis 45:15 And he kissed all his brothers and wept over them. Afterward his brothers talked with him.
This verse is Joseph with his brothers when the famine is going on and Joseph reveals himself to his brothers when they come for food. Earlier Joseph tells his brothers that God sent him here, not them. He tells them not to be distressed or angry with themselves because God sent Joseph before them so he could provide for them to save their lives. This is the kiss of FORGIVENESS.
#2 The second kiss is the kiss of LOVE and LOYALTY. I don't have the verse for this one, but wouldn't the world be better if there was more loyalty? Interactions with one abother would be nicer, more welcoming. We sang the song in church today They'll Know We Are Christians by Our what? Love.
#3 Matthew 26:48-49 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him." Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him.
This is the kiss of DEATH. Whenever you choose something else over Christ, you just kissed him goodbye. And when give him the kiss of death, it kills you as well. When Judas kissed Jesus, he killed both of them because Jesus was nailed to the cross and Judas went and hung himself.
#4 Luke 7:37-38 When a woman who had lived a sinful life in that town learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee's house, she brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and as she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.
This last kiss is the kiss of LIFE. She didn't come for the Pharisee who thought he was a holy hot shot, she came as she was for Jesus. Even she knew that she needed Christ.
Any prayers?
