Deut. 1:30-32 The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you, as he did for you in Egypt, before your very eyes, and in the desert. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his, all the way you went until you reached this place. In spite of this, you did not trust in the Lord your God.
Deut. 8:5 Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you.
Joshua 1:5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
God is ALWAYS there for us, fighting every step of the way. When we don't cooperate with Him, that means He has to fight even more for us. Because God loves us so much He disciplines us. God has structure. He doesn't want us running around full of chaos that will end up ruining our lives. God wants the best for us; which means doing things HIS way on HIS time. At the beginning, the middle and in the end, God will never leave us. He has our back 100% of the time, 24/7.
