day 167

"I can't believe what she said
I can't believe what he did
Oh, don't they know it's wrong, yeah?
Don't they know it's wrong, yeah?
Maybe there's something I missed
But how could they treat me like this?
It's wearing out my heart
The way they disregard
This love, this hate...
We all have a choice to make
Oh, Father won't you You forgive them?
They don't know what they've been doin'
Oh, Father, give me grace to forgive them
'Cause I feel like the one losin'" -Tenth Avenue North
Forgiving someone is mainly the freeing of our own conscience. The wrongdoing of the other person of course is bad, but the Bible says it's a mistake not to forgive. Maybe the person didn't even do something directly to you, yet you have bitterness and anger toward them. What a shame. For you, that is.
Luke 23:34
Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
Oftentimes that is true. The offender doesn't even know what they're doing. Perhaps they didn't do anything. As humans we always have to find fault in others, we always pass blame around. Knock it off and forgive. Forgive the person, forgive yourself. And ask God for his forgiveness, too.
